What Does a Boiler Repair Involve?
A boiler repair begins with a thorough diagnostic assessment. Our engineer will inspect the unit, identify fault codes, test components, check gas pressure, and examine the flue to pinpoint exactly what has failed — and why. We do not guess. Every diagnosis is systematic and evidence-based.
Common boiler faults include loss of pressure, no hot water, radiators not heating, strange noises (banging, whistling, gurgling), pilot light failure, frozen condensate pipes, faulty thermostats, and error codes on the display panel. We carry a comprehensive stock of common replacement parts, so most repairs are completed during the first visit.
A boiler repair is the right option when your boiler is under 10 years old, the fault is isolated, and replacement parts are available. If your boiler is older, breaks down frequently, or the repair cost exceeds 50% of a new installation, we will advise you honestly and recommend the most cost-effective path forward.
Every repair is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer who is qualified to work on your specific boiler type. We repair all major brands including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Potterton, Glow-worm, and more.
The Real Cost of Ignoring a Boiler Fault
A minor boiler fault rarely stays minor. A small leak left unaddressed can corrode internal components, damage your PCB (printed circuit board), and turn a £150 repair into a £600+ bill. Ignoring unusual noises — kettling, banging, or whistling — often leads to heat exchanger failure, which is one of the most expensive boiler components to replace.
Beyond cost, a faulty boiler is a safety risk. Incomplete combustion can produce carbon monoxide — an odourless, colourless gas that causes headaches, nausea, and in severe cases, death. If your boiler is showing a yellow or orange flame instead of blue, producing a sooty residue, or triggering your CO alarm, you must act immediately.
There is also the disruption. A boiler that fails completely in January leaves your family without heating or hot water. Emergency callouts during peak winter cost significantly more than addressing faults proactively. The best approach is to fix problems early, before they escalate.
Many homeowners also make the mistake of calling unqualified repair services who provide temporary fixes without addressing root causes. This leads to repeat breakdowns and wasted money. Always use a Gas Safe registered engineer for any boiler repair work.

Benefits
Why This Matters
Same-Day Response
We understand that a broken boiler cannot wait. We aim to attend same-day for urgent faults, especially during winter months.
Fixed-Price Repairs
You will know exactly what the repair costs before we start. No hourly rates that spiral. No hidden charges.
Gas Safe Registered
Every engineer is individually Gas Safe registered and qualified to work on your specific boiler type safely and legally.
All Makes & Models
Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Baxi, Potterton, Glow-worm — we repair them all. We carry common parts for first-visit fixes.
Root Cause Analysis
We do not apply temporary fixes. We identify and address the underlying cause so the same fault does not return.
Honest Advice
If your boiler is beyond economical repair, we will tell you. We never push unnecessary work — just straightforward guidance.
Common Boiler Faults We Repair
Loss of boiler pressure is one of the most frequent issues we attend. This is typically caused by a leak in the system, a faulty pressure relief valve, or bleeding radiators without re-pressurising. We locate the source of pressure loss, repair or replace the faulty component, and re-pressurise your system to the correct bar level.
No hot water or heating is often caused by a failed diverter valve (in combi boilers), a faulty motorised valve (in system boilers), a broken pump, or a thermostat issue. We systematically test each component in the heating circuit to isolate the fault and replace only what is necessary.
Strange noises from your boiler — banging (kettling), whistling, gurgling, or humming — indicate different faults. Kettling is usually caused by limescale buildup on the heat exchanger, particularly in hard water areas. Gurgling may indicate air in the system. Humming often points to a failing pump. We diagnose the specific noise and apply the correct fix.
Frozen condensate pipes are common during cold snaps. Modern condensing boilers produce acidic condensation that drains through a pipe to an outside drain. When this pipe freezes, the boiler locks out. We thaw the pipe, insulate it to prevent recurrence, and reroute it internally if the current path is exposed.
Fault codes and error displays vary by manufacturer. Our engineers are trained on all major brands and can interpret diagnostic codes quickly. Common error causes include flame failure, ignition faults, fan speed errors, and sensor malfunctions. We replace faulty sensors, igniters, electrodes, and PCBs as required.
We also repair system-level faults including leaking radiator valves, failed expansion vessels, corroded pipework, and airlocked circuits. If your boiler fault is related to the wider heating system rather than the appliance itself, we will diagnose and fix the entire issue — not just the symptom.
