What Heating Services Do We Offer?
Our heating services cover the full lifecycle of your central heating system — from initial design and installation through to maintenance, repair, and upgrades. We work with wet radiator systems, underfloor heating, smart controls, and both gas and renewable heat sources.
A central heating system is more than just a boiler. It includes radiators, thermostatic valves, pipework, a pump, expansion vessel, controls, and a programmer or smart thermostat. Each component must be correctly sized and configured to work together. An imbalanced system wastes energy, heats rooms unevenly, and creates cold spots that no amount of boiler power will fix.
We assess your entire heating system as a whole — not just individual components. If your radiators are cold at the bottom, your upstairs heats slowly, or some rooms never reach temperature, the issue may not be your boiler at all. It could be air locks, sludge buildup, undersized radiators, or incorrect pump settings.
We serve homeowners across Barry, Cardiff, Penarth, Bridgend, Cowbridge, Pontypridd, and the Vale of Glamorgan. Every heating job is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Signs Your Heating System Needs Attention
Cold spots on radiators — particularly cold at the bottom and warm at the top — indicate sludge buildup (magnetite) inside your system. This black, iron oxide sludge restricts water flow, reduces heat output, and forces your boiler to work harder. Left untreated, it can block heat exchangers, damage pumps, and lead to expensive boiler repairs.
Rooms that heat unevenly despite all radiators being on often point to a system balancing issue. When radiators are not balanced, those closest to the boiler get most of the flow while distant radiators receive less. This is a common issue in extended or modified homes where new radiators have been added without re-balancing the system.
Strange noises from your heating system — banging pipes, clicking radiators, or a humming pump — indicate air in the system, loose pipework, or a pump operating outside its optimal range. While not immediately dangerous, these issues reduce efficiency and comfort, and can lead to component failure over time.
Rising energy bills without increased usage almost always indicate declining system efficiency. An unserviced boiler, sludge-filled radiators, and outdated controls all contribute. A system assessment and targeted upgrades can restore efficiency and reduce your gas consumption by 20–30%.
Our Process
How It Works
System Assessment
We inspect your entire heating system — boiler, radiators, pipework, controls — and identify performance issues, inefficiencies, and upgrade opportunities.
Design & Recommendation
Based on our assessment, we design the optimal solution — whether that is a powerflush, radiator upgrades, new controls, or a complete system overhaul.
Fixed-Price Quote
You receive a clear, itemised quote with no hidden costs. We explain what each element achieves and why it is recommended.
Installation / Repair
Our Gas Safe registered engineers carry out the work to the highest standard, with minimal disruption to your household.
Commissioning & Testing
We test every radiator, balance the system, configure your controls, and ensure even heat distribution throughout your home.
Benefits
Why This Matters
Even Heat Distribution
Properly balanced, clean systems heat every room evenly — no more cold spots, no more fighting over the thermostat.
Lower Energy Bills
A clean, balanced heating system uses up to 30% less gas than one that is sludged up, airlocked, or poorly controlled.
Longer System Lifespan
Regular maintenance and timely upgrades prevent premature failure of boilers, pumps, and valves — saving thousands in replacement costs.
Gas Safe Compliant
All heating work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers in full compliance with current regulations.
Complete System Coverage
We handle everything — from a single radiator replacement to a full central heating system installation.
Smart Control Upgrades
We install wireless smart thermostats and programmers so you can control your heating from your phone — room by room.
Heating Services in Detail
Powerflushing is a deep-cleaning process that removes sludge, rust, limescale, and debris from your central heating system. We connect a powerful flushing unit to your system and circulate chemical cleaning agents through every radiator and pipe. This restores full water flow, improves heat output, and reduces boiler strain. A powerflush is recommended every 5–7 years, or whenever symptoms of sludge buildup appear.
Radiator installation and replacement is one of our most popular services. We fit standard panel radiators, vertical designer radiators, column radiators, and towel rails. Every radiator is correctly sized using heat loss calculations to ensure adequate output for the room. We also fit thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) for individual room temperature control.
Heating control upgrades can transform your system's efficiency. We install smart thermostats (Nest, Hive, Tado, Worcester Wave), wireless programmers, and zone control systems. Zoning allows you to heat occupied rooms while leaving empty rooms cool — reducing gas consumption without sacrificing comfort.
Full central heating installations involve designing a complete system from scratch — typically for new-build extensions, renovation projects, or properties that currently have no central heating. We calculate heat loss for every room, specify radiator sizes, design pipework routes, select the appropriate boiler and controls, and install the entire system.
System conversions involve changing from one boiler type to another — for example, converting from a gravity-fed regular boiler with a header tank to a pressurised system boiler with a sealed cylinder, or switching to a combi boiler and removing the hot water cylinder entirely. We advise on the best option based on your property layout and water usage.
Underfloor heating integration is increasingly popular, especially in new extensions and ground-floor renovations. We install wet underfloor heating systems that connect to your existing boiler or a dedicated heat pump. Underfloor heating provides even warmth, frees up wall space, and operates at lower flow temperatures for greater efficiency.
